I've got a 22 Carbon. Saw this thread a couple weeks ago but said what the hell....pass the drill. Turns out mine were spot welded but the weld was so weak it only took a fair amount of torque on the allen key to break the bolt loose. Almost as if they were intentionally welded weak. Sounds so much better w/o the baffles.

Do you have any photos? I am planning to do this with mine very soon.

Was there spot weld and the back of the securing bolt then? This I havent heard of.

If I recall, it is a flange bolt, M5 or M6. The spot weld is in the edge of the flange and tacked to the baffle. Nothing on the bolt threads that that where inside the baffle.
Bike only had about 300 miles on it. I did have to take both muffles off in orde to knock out the baffles from the inlet side.

They had tack welded the nut to the baffle with the bolt in place and the weld just barely caught the bolt you need to remove. Clearly they build the innards first and then drop them in the can. It required maximum effort but came out OK. I had to take the cans off too and used piece of wood to knock out the baffles.

That's how it was for the lower bolt on mine, but the upper bolt had about 1/4 of the bolt welded in place, which caused the allen key to strip the bolt immediately. This, in turn, meant I had to spend four days drilling and swearing.

Just to chime in.
Bassini offered a de-cat slip on until 2022. I'm told they're working on an oval connector Just got note today my TOCE full exhaust has shipped.
Is there any update on anyone that offers a oval connector. I’m having issues the The mid pipe I got with my s&s doesn’t fit and I was told it does.

Did it come with instructions telling you to cut the stock exhaust between the headers and the cat?

To be honest. I haven’t looked at the instructions for the S&S slip on. I was more concerned with the akrapovic mid-pipe. Those instructions basically said it slips on to the headers. The dealership had a older set of headers from a 19’ or 20’ I’m assuming and the mid pipe fit on to that.

I think at this point I may tell them to send the mid pipe back and have a custom mid pipe made.

Just as I got '22 FTRS to where I want it with the Fuel Moto tune, my wife says she hates riding on the back so I've put it up for sale. Check the classifieds section of this forum if interested.

sorry to hear. It's definitely a solo not a 2 up bike. Good luck with the sale.

Here's the YouTube video I referenced for baffle removal...

That’s the vid I used to do mine. I ended up taking the cans off to get them out but worked perfectly. Got some grommets from the local bearing shop for like 13 cents and yep perfect. Ended up sending my pipes to one of our members in New York that had a transport damage issue. 👍😎
