Anyone tried a 160/60ZR18 on the rear?

Seriously interested in the Conti Road Attack 3 or Bridgestone T31, and wondering if a 160/60 would fit the rear. The wheel is 4.25" wide. However, this size officially requires a 4.50" rim, but it may just fit.

Anyone?

It will certainly fit the rim but may not fit the bike? Going oversize a little is not necessarily the issue (I certainly have on my other bike) nevertheless in my scenario you can get differing makes the same size, one will fit the other not, with potential fouling issues on both the fender and drivebelt! If you can find an understanding tyre supplier/fitter you may be able to try before you buy perhaps?

My question was whether it fit the wheel, not the bike. I'm pretty sure it will clear the chain -not drivebelt- and swingarm.

Anyway, since I asked this question I've seen others that fit a 160/60 on the rear and it seems to qork well.

Thanks!

Have you done it yet? How does it work out for you? replacing the 160/60 Conti, worth doing?

Worth doing, on my socind now. They’re perfect.
Many thanks! looks good. Not sure if Conti Attack is available in China...if not, can i assume the Bridgestone or any other 160/60/18 could fit? would this actually lower the bike a bit? Thx!

I'm a shorty and yes the 160/60 does lower the bike a little which makes stopping easier!. I have the Conti Road Attacks too and love them.

Depending on how and where you ride, anywhere between 5 and 8k miles. The centers were still good on mine at 5k, but the sides were oh-oh...

That’s 5000 miles of canyons, hardly any freeways.

typically 34psi front, 36 rear.

I brought the Road Attack 3's to the dealer to get them installed last week while my dash was being replaced under the warranty. They refused to put on a different sized rear tire claiming they contacted both Indian and Continental. The 0.25" difference in wheel width was the major factor in their decision. Now I am looking for another option. I generally do all of my own modification and service, but I hesitate to purchase all of the necessary tools to replaced the tires and balance them. I am looking for a different shop to mount and balance the tires.

Although the rear rim is technically a quarter inch too narrow for a 160, it steers remarkably well and I’m sure they never rode it.

Must have been the legal departments they contacted.

I purchased a wheel balancer, bead breaker and a lift from harbor freight. Well worth it. Get some spoons and slap on your own tires. I have nine bikes to maintain, so having the tools makes it worth it.

With the rim width I would ask Indian dealers.
our rim is 4.25 inches,so 160/65 18 tires should also fit. the height does not change much,
it is only 0,1 cm lover than orginal tires with size 150/70 18.
Speedometer deviation is equal to 0 km/h.

Two things here.

- there are no decent tires for the FTR in 160/65-80 (just cruiser tires)

- a 65 section tire can be pinched more than a 60 section, because the sidewall of a 65 section is taller.

What was wrong with your dash because I’m having issues with mine, everything on the far right column goes blank

HI i fitted the Avon 160/60/18 to my 2021 FTR Carbon and Avon 120/70/19 front . Could not be happier with them . I ride a lot of mountain roads and enjoy pushing it through the tight corners and these tires have preformed quite well . Would not hesitate to recommend them

Anyone tried the Bridgestone T32 on the front an rear of an FTR? If so what is your impression and did the lower rear 60 series profile impact the effective gearing and speedometer accuracy?
