Loved my ol' Superduke. Santa Cruz Mts daily. Someday again. Oh how I miss her.

Nicely done...now, in the mid afternoon of October 5th or so, of this great year, I was in Southern California on HWY 101 just north of the Ojai exit. And, I saw a very nicely done FTR with a rider who clearly knew what he was doing, getting off the freeway...hmmmmm, I wonder who that might be?

Stop it, you guys. Not only do you live in the paradise for motorcycling where it never rains (but it pours). You have some of the best rides I've ever experienced.

Probably my favorite is getting on Angeles Crest, maybe stopping briefly at Newcombes Ranch, then continuing to Wrightwood (another good watering spot) and continuing on before hanging a right on Highway 138.

Cross 15 Freeway and continue on to Crestline, passing or visiting Lake Arrrowhead (where the bottled water supposedly comes from) to the Rim of the World (Hwy 18). The vistas around here are just amazing.

Then ride down the hill, trying to keep my eyes on the road while taking in the view, until arriving at Big Bear Lake. Another favorite place to spend some time.

Then it's matter of continuing down Hwy 38 and slabbing it back to the West Coast (if time is short), or staying on Hwy 18 to Lucerne Valley, Apple Valley, Victorville, across to Little Rock, Acton perhaps, and coming out at Santa Clarita where the 5 Freeway will take me back to Los Angeles and Marina Del Rey (my favorite place to stay in L.A.)

This would take me most of the day, often arriving back after dark.

How I miss California!

I wonder if that might have been me. Except for the part about knowing what he's doing...

The FTR I saw had the R tank panels and Akropovich (sp?) exhaust. The rider wore a black full face helmet with a dark visor, black leathers. Couldn't see if it was a one piece or jacket and pants. South bound Hwy 101 just north of the Ojai off ramp. And yes, regardless of who it was, he knew what he was doing...
