Recently I have been preparing to install a toce high mount exhaust on my 2024 FTR. This is my second bike and I own a Dynojet Power Vision 4 from my indian scout.

The question is:
If someone has a tune file for a FTR with a toce high mount could they send you the ECU flash file to use? Just the license to marry this damn thing is running me 250$ and buying a new tune is gonna be 150$ more. At that point it would just be easier to do a lloyds tune then do this my self. But I am so loathed to give the damn dealership in my area 500$ for a bench ECU flash.
I know i sound like a cheap ass, but really in this economy I am trying to save every penny I can.

You sound like a cheap ass. 😛

The tunes from Dynojet are free to use and share but aren’t the best you can get.

The better tunes though, from Thomas Kopp, Fuel Moto and the pre bench tunes form Lloydz are locked and cannot be shared. And for a good reason. That’s how they make their money. It’s their ip.

Sadly that's basicaly stealing dude. Maybe sell the bike for something more economical and grom like... lol and you can't claim poverty and own 2 Indians...

I thought buying the extra PV license through FM got you the tune as well. For the $400 ($250 + $150) the OP is talking you can just purchase another PV4. That wouldn't make any sense.

it's a compeltely different bike - he doesn't own any tunes for the FTR, only the scout, He needs to buy an FTR tune as well as a licence for it.

If tunes were sharable, we all would have done that in 2019/2020.

I realize the tunes aren't shareable. I'm asking why I would buy the license, then buy the tune for the same price as buying a new PV4 (and getting tunes "free" with that purchase). There is little reason to re-use or (even worse) purchase a used PV4.
I guess the only positive is if I own multiples of the same bike I'd only need to purchase a license for each. Though charging $250 just to "unlock" another VIN slot in the software is ridiculous enough.

I’m more disgruntled by the cost increase of the license fee for the tuner. 240$ is insane. Like someone else pointed out I could basically buy a new tuner and get a free tune for the same price. I get it the tuners need to make money but at the same time they’re just as bad as Apple nickel and dime you to death.

You pretty much summed up how I feel. I’m pretty shocked on how expensive this whole thing is. I was under the assumption that reusing my tuner would be a lot cheaper than buying a brand new one. It’s literally the whole reason I bought the thing to begin with because I knew I would own many bikes.
The profit they must make on licenses alone must be insane.

The PV3 or 4 is a 100 dollar (or less) vehicle to sell licenses and tunes. They don’t want you to add another bike.

Serious, install the exhaust you want and send your ECU to Lloydz. You’ll forget about the cost after the first ride.

Was offered a job at a dealer to inspect the tunes for compliance of some Cali law going into effect... soon/maybe?

Where if it goes national, the PV box captures the signal, and coverts the injector pulse timing to said extra squirt. Bike shows up at a dealer, the PV is disconnected and shows the compliant factory tune.

A flash is another 500 bucks to convert back to stock, and another 500 to flash back again.

I have a Dobeck with tuning pots to adjust. No map borrowing needed. Just find the right positions.

The Power Vision flashes the the ECU. I still have the stock tune in there as well and can go back and forth in a few minutes. It is then disconnected and stashed in the tool box.

That’s not how a PV works on these bikes.

You didn’t get offered a job like that. That’s not how any of this works… There is no cali law that went in effect and if there were, they would hire someone with subject matter expertise.

Max, true, no mention of a law that I know of, but when I was told this, I did mention that day I have zip experience with a dyno. The sniffer I understand. So all it needs is to strap it on the dyno, the sniffer in the muffler, a few keystrokes on the computer, you now whack it up or run steady and printout the sniff.

I'd be and expert within hours sniffing every bike before it leaves the shop :ROFLMAO:

Signed,
NOLTT (no one listens to turtle)

Again, there are no inspections on motorcycles in CA (neither general nor smog), and a sniffer doesn’t work on a bike with a cat…

🤷🏻‍♂️

Had an AFR setup on my stock mufflers before the cat. Had a remote PAIR shutoff on my bike. On it ran 16 afr. Shut the fresh air off, it ran 14.2 afr.

Again, I agree there are no gen or smog checks for bikes. It's what I was told.
