Been discounted in the UK since before Christmas... In fact, if you can find one left, then buy it! They're mostly all sold...

Thing is, the £4k discount was uniform across the models... So I picked up an FTR Base model just before Christmas for £8995!!! 😁👍🏻

Hi all. I’m brand new here and just picked up a new 2024 Carbon R today. Dealers are discounting them $3000 in the US. I found a couple of them on Cycle Trader and lucked out that a dealer about an hour from me had one that just came out of the crate.
 
Our bikes along with most bikes have been losing value quicker than the stock market has been. I haven't planned on getting rid of mine, but I can see why it could worry some folks. I bought the FTR knowing full well it's one of those weird quirky uncategorized bikes that would be difficult to sell later on. It should appeal to everyone, but it's in a weird position. Most consumers looking at Indian Motorcycles are cruiser guys. The FTR is more akin to the Ducati HyperMotard, or KTM Duke. Both of which are also kind of niche. I think a reason it wasn't as huge as we probably think it should of been is just that, not enough people actually riding it. That's all it took for me. But I could tell it wasn't going to be nearly as popular as it should be. Just not enough of a market, and the motorcycle crowd in the US is about as opinionated as a group can be. If you buy and indian, Harley guys talk shit, sport bike riders talk shit, adv riders talk shit, etc. There so many little cliques and groups, not as many people who just love bikes, love riding and couldn't care less about what the name on the tank says. BUT, I think with the FTR as long as the community keeps embracing and supporting it, will keep it's little niche it's carved out and will bounce back at some point. Anyway sorry for the mini-rant, but the whole bike world in general is a huge mess right now, hell the whole power sports/motorcycle/automotive world's are a huge mess right now.
 
Nobody's ever really answer the question of what we are supposed to do with it. It's a great bike, and I love mine. But it's not a cruiser, it's not a sport bike, it's really not a sport tourer, but it's not a touring bike, and it's not an ADV bike.
The question is who do you market it to if you are Indian. What sold me on it was largely the looks, and a little bit less the fact that it makes power where it's usable. The Super sports that don't make power until 11,000 RPMs are the next best thing to useless on the road if you want to keep your license. The FTR pulls at non-super legal speeds pretty darn well which is cool. It handles pretty nice, and it's visually stunning. But there's no box that it fits in to market it. Flat track racing is cool, but it doesn't have the kind of following it would take to make the bike a repli racer in a weird way. One of the other reasons I bought it was that an American company finally came out with a halfway decent standard motorcycle. I figured if they did that I should support them
 
It's a Standard. Manufacturers have built them since day one. All the others came later.
 
It ticks my boxes, I believed that there was (with mods) a bike that will keep me happy for 15-20 years (ill be 75 by then and probably trying to remember my name). I believe markets will rise and fall certain bikes will go in and out of fashion. (I paid a lot for my Aprilia RSVR haga rep, it dropped to below 50% of what I paid then when I sold it 20 years later I got more than I paid for it).
but i do subscribe to the smiles per miles financial investment and the FTR give me good dividends .......take it out, pin it, throw gears at it, who cares what its worth at that point its my whole reason for living
