Hey all, new owner here. Picked up a brand new 2022. Super excited. First new bike I’ve had in 20 years. She joins an 02 VFR that I bought new in 2002 and a pristine 97 VFR that I picked up a few months ago.

Congrats Hawkeye,
Loks sweet. Got mine a few months back, also in Hampton Roads. I like how you found a place for the registration plate!

Dealer did the inspection plate. Better than sticking it on the forks. That said, I’ll likely remove it altogether.

can;t believe you still need registration stickers/ plates.
All we have is a licence plate and that's it - everything else is electronic so no need!

congrats on the bike, you'll love it.

That's because you have to register your bike for a whole year, each year. Only vintage bikes are exempt, I believe.

In Kiwiland we choose the amount of registration, from one day to 365 days. The hitch is we have to pay ACC (compulsory accident insurance) for each bike for the period of the registration. But they're not insuring the bike, just the rider (several times if you have multiple bikes).

I'm not sure which is better.

sorry are you talking to me?
if so that's not correct.

we have always had the ability to register our bikes and cars for either 3 months or 12. we got rid of registration stickers 6 years ago. all information is stored electronically anyway.(always was) police can check if a car or bike is registered by checking the licence plate.
and third party compulsory insurance is bundled in with registration.

And if you register it in QLD as a single seater your third party is less…cheaper rego…hence both my bikes and my wife’s bobber are registered as single seaters…👍😎🇦🇺

Mind you you have to remove your pillion pegs but that’s no biggie…years ago you had to actually modify the seat and get a mod plate and weld up or remove the pillion peg carriers. Thank fuck they got rid of that crap…🤦‍♂️👍
