Hey there folks,

I've been riding my FTR1200 Rally for almost like last 6 months. Now I'm looking to upgrade on aero basis. Do you suggest anything to start working on frontal parts?

Cheers!

aero? as in to make it faster or something? like a fairing?
some people put windscreens on to help with wind buffeting.
it's a naked/standard not a sports bike - if you're after fairing you bought the wrong bike.

I don’t know if the chin fairing makes much difference but the early bikes didn’t come with it. Likely not on any of the rally bikes.
You’d have to investigate a bit but it should bold up with the factory exhaust from the early models.

I fitted a Puig Screen to my 2022 Carbon. Can't say I get any buffeting and it does divert the windblast up a bit. Looks good too. IMG_20250112_123000_edit_1855101172308584.webp

That does look good! I rode my FTR home from work yesterday in a mild wind, and was getting pushed around quite a bit. I know from a few other bikes, that even a small screen does help cut a path through the wind. I had a 2019 Ducati Scrambler that I added a screen to, and it made a difference.

I like the factory screen, but the mount for it is expensive! Maybe I'll look at the Puig

I don't mean to sound antagonistic, but I've never understood why people who choose to ride a bike then complain about one of the obvious features of riding a bike, and then want to stick a big screen on the front 🤔

I've only ever removed screens, never added one 🤨

Good job we are all different Scrappy. Life would be boring otherwise 😉
I fitted my screen to hide also hide some accessory wiring.

Valid point, Scrappy. Personally, I love to ride but don't like getting pushed around by the wind or the air blast from oncoming transport trucks. I'm not in my 20's anymore, and seek comfort and ease in my riding these days. You know how the saying goes..."Ride your ride".

Do you need to have the screen mount kit from Indian in order to use this screen?

Puig will say their screens won't fit the Carbon FTR. As it doesn't fit around the Carbon Headlight surround. So I bought one anyway 😉
Turns out it does fit around Headlight, but the Puig brackets that mount on the Fork Clamps are way out of position. So I had to gently bend them into alignment. Time consuming, but nice when you get it right.

I have to ask ..........so comparing apples with orange's, your thoughts on 'off the showroom floor' of the Ducati vs the Indian

Well, you nailed it by saying "apples to oranges". Completely different animals. The FTR is a WAY better ride.
The Ducati 803cc is a good engine...until it leaks...and when you have to service it. The 6 speed transmission had short gears...the bike felt like it was revving high at 100kph. The bars had quite a bit of high-frequency vibrations at highway speeds. The seat was flat and hard. Neutral was tricky to find. Bars, pegs, controls and levers were very small...almost dirt-bike-ish. Only short trips on that bike.

As for the FTR, it revvs low, has smooth linear power, smooth shifts, doesn't transmit vibrations through my hands. I snagged a Comfort + seat for it, so it is a comfy ride. I like the fit and finish better on the Indian. More solid materials and fitment. I can't say what the higher end Ducati's are like, I only had the Scramber.
