Buell 1200 thunderbolt, Kawasaki zx6e, gen1 Yamaha fz1, gen2 Yamaha Fz1 (both with r1 running gear)

first bike was a 1200 sportster. Plus many dual sports that weren’t that fun to look at. As well as having my fathers Harley deuce and street glide while in college.

In 93 me and my buddies were getting the crotch rocket bug. I was working security near B&E Honda, so I decided to drop in "just to look".
When it was all over, I brought this home.

Would have to do some serious digging to get other photos but these were to hand......

I bought the Triumph below through the back door of the factory itself in 1991and saved 30% off the new ticket price and got a factory tour in the deal, they had pre-registered a number of bikes at the factory to increase sales figures my Trident was one of those bikes. My daughter who is sat on the seat is now 28.

IMG_1353.JPG

I subsequently traded the above bike in for what was Triumph's flagship, until they bought out the Super III.

triumph.jpg

Kept the above bike for 17 years. Sold it on as decided perhaps my motorcycling days were at an end? Lasted three months before buying a Sporty. The 48 was a cracking bike but just couldn't cut the mustard when it came to fuelling and pillion.

WP_20160513_003.jpg

Outgrew the Sporty in 12 months and sold a Land Rover Defender to fund reduction of house mortgage and trading in the 48 for a CVO. Pictured on day of delivery on my front yard.

I decided despite being a CVO it was still like all the other CVO Pro Streets out there, so invested some time, blood, sweat and tears making it my own. Still kept the Breakout.

My girlfriends mother had one of these but in orange, really cool bikes. but when victory was killed they both sold their victories for harley breakouts.

Its amazing how kawasaki didn't change the zzr600 or zx6e for years, my 03 was that same red before i painted it black.

If I ever find a maroon and opera rose 91 ZX6 in good shape, I might have to buy it. I'd love to compare it to the FTR. I am sure my memories of the ZX are based on, "it's my 1st bike, I was 22", and nostalgia .

I would compare it to a modern fz6r, since i owned mine in 2010. Smooth tame power delivery, cushion suspension, was a comfortable bike you could ride for hours.

I am STILL dreaming of an FZR1 from turn of the century era. Blue and silver. I think that one will be far easier to get than the 91 ZX6.

Sadly no, they are all completely beating, or totaled, its why i bought that first fz1, which used the same engine, and i just installed the r1 suspension bits to it from that era.

I had many, and actually liked them all (I guess I just like bikes 🤷‍♂️). I started on a Honda CB1-400, then had CBR6's, VFR, Africa Twins, R1100GS, CB750, a few DR650's, BMW G650 XChallenge. But there's one bike that'll always have a special place in my heart:

Aprilia-RS250-Loris-Reggiani-Replica-Right-Side-1.jpg

Remember back then Aprilia didn't make any Tuonos or RSV's, it was a still a small, unknown brand to most, basically only known for MotoGP 125 and 250 bikes, and moppeds. To celebrate their successes they -significantly- modified an Suzuki RG250 engine and gave it their own ECU a super sexy bike around it. What a party!!! Highly unpractical, absolutely no power up onto 9000 rpm or something, coming full on song at 9001rpm to die off 1500 rpm later.

Mine never got old unfortunately. It nearly killed me after 3 weeks / 1000kms in some barbed wired fence. Yet, I still want one, knowing these are darn hard to ride fast outside of a track...

my share can't compete with these at all lol.
My first ever bike was a Honda XR-75, i used to have a photo somewhere of me caked in mud from trail riding on it but can't find it now.

My first road bike was a Honda CB250. Here in Aus, even if you have a full car licence you must get your learners first if you get a bike licence, and are restricted in what you can ride.
The CB250 was bloody brilliant - got about 400kms to a tank, ran on the smell of an oily rag. I rode it to work every day till I got my unrestricted licence & could finally ride the Hornet.
it was probably the most reliable bike on the planet lol. I even rode it on a 400km trip to Naracoorte and 400kms bacxk. couldn't overtake anything cause the max speed was 110kph and my arse hurt like hell after the long ride but I had a blast.
DSC00512.JPG

While I had 12 months to go on my restricted licence, I bought a blue totally stock Honda Hornet 600 and turned it in to this beauty. Have had it for 14 years now, and although I love the FTR I can't bear to part with it yet.
hornbag.jpg

And now the FTR. so pretty boring for me lol
I tend to do a lot of research and find the right bike for me and stick with it.
my other half has had 5 bikes in the time I've had 3 lol.
and I think my dad has had 8.
I might do another post with all their bikes!
