If you can't start your bike at night in your driveway without pissing off the neighbors, your bike is too loud.
I deleted the cat and got an S&S pipe, which was just insanely loud. I've had big HP fours my whole riding career (45+ years) and a straight pipe four can be ridden lightly and you...
I was under the impression all S&S pipes shipped with the DB killer in, but mine just looked as described above, just a straight pipe with a perforated tube...maybe mine didn't ship with the DB killer?
I'd like to put the S&S back on, but I already spent enough money on this without paying for...
An FTR really isn't a cruiser, it is a dirt track race replica, with decent electronics, which can perform on the street pretty well with decent tires unless you are willing to take serious risk on a more typical road race replica on faster roads.
With that being said, I get what you are...

I'm a little surprised it feels geared lower, but maybe you're right.
It is heavier, but the more upright position and wide bars lend a lot of leverage, so it is more flickable than one might suspect (but probably not as much as the Duke, do to weight advantage).
I think the FTR would clean...
I rode with an S&S for about a season and couldn't take it anymore, put the stock Akra's back on (de-catted, they sound good).
Always had loud-piped fours which would be tolerable if you peddled the throttle a little, but that is apparently no help with 600cc cylinders. Very loud under all...
As long as I moving, mine never goes over 170 degrees. Fan comes on in traffic in warm weather at 206 and that's pretty much as hot as it gets, so all of above is a mystery to me.
It is amazing to me all the people that complain about heat (and vibration while we're at it) on this bike.
It's...
