Different type of tire replacement question.

I'm taking my bike to the dealer- Fox Powersports probably this Saturday to have the ABS recall tended to and the.....Gulp.....Coolant junction recall performed. I will take pics of my frame with the bike still on the trailer and in front of the dealership. I read some techs being careless...

Different type of tire replacement question.

A 160/60x18 is a littler wider and a little shorter than stock- I think the width would be an improvement in looks. Is there a better selection of tires in the 160 60 size?

Different type of tire replacement question.

I wouldn't skip the search function and post THIS question if it were not that my inquiry is much different. I have the 2019 Base model. I need new tires. I want long tread life and am not concerned with grip in rainy, wet conditions nor am I carving the curves or launching at a drag strip. I...

Upright nakeds are what's hot- New Honda

edglett that's a nice looking bike. I too like the high RPM rush of an inline 4. I recently sold my 1983 Suzuki GS100E. It had a Vance and Hines 4 into 1, APE pods with dynojet kits in each carb. Pure inline 4 air/oil cooled bliss!!!! I like to stay somewhat current on new bikes even though I...

Upright nakeds are what's hot- New Honda

Our FTRs are considered an upright naked. The upright riding position, light weight (well maybe not with the FTR) and instant punchy low end power is what makes this class of bike so fun and desirable. In fact the big four Japanese are focusing less on high RPM inline 4 sport bikes. Going...

    Scout Tachometer Compatibility

I emailed Indian back in April 2022 asking if they planned to make one of these for the base model FTR1200. No reply. I wish the tachometer was the large analog gauge and the speedometer was a digital readout. I found it refreshing that within this post no one chimed in with "A reeeel rider...

    Aftermarket analog style tachometer.

I see this is available from Indian but its not available for the FTR1200. Plug and play. Expensive but I would buy one for my bikes if they offered one. https://www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/shop/accessories/tanks-consoles/tachometer-shift-light/

    Harley's new Sportster S

I really do not care for HD. HOWEVER- Their new Max 8 engine is something special. The Sportster S has a seat height and riding position than is not correct for some but is actually perfect for many. Where the FTR- even the second gen is a tall bike the Sportster S is not. The looks of the FTR...

    Radiator replacement

Tie the hyd front brake lines up away from your work area. If you don't they will rub your new $300 radiator fins and smear/bend them over. I also suggest removing your tank/air filter cover- left side I believe so you can unplug the electric cooling fan. Then you can remove the electric fan...

Aussie Owners - new AH2 ECU update

My situation drew criticism on the FB forum. My 2019 base was purchased used with 500 miles. The previous owner kept the catalytic converter but added a Toce slip on and Lloydz Garage tune. (hand held device) My bike ran great for 150 miles then when into misfire mode- Flashing service engine...

Why should I get an FTR over, say a Speed 1200 / BMW S1000r?

If horsepower and quick acceleration bragging rights are important (And they are a factor in many many things- its one reason I chose the FTR over the Z900RS and Triumph Speed twin) then that 180hp triple would have you in nearly the top tier - Although some dork will say "Ducati Penigale V4 is...

    FTR fuel filling

"The final .5 gallon is a test of patience where you watch the level rise, wait for it to fall, add .01 more, watch the level rise, wait for it to fall, etc etc" This should in the owners manual.

Why should I get an FTR over, say a Speed 1200 / BMW S1000r?

I came from and still own a 1983 suzuki GS1100E with a 4 into 1 exh modified carbs and K&N style filters. If you dont know it was a powerful bike in its day. Originally my choice for my first new bike ever was between the Triumph Speed twin 1200, Z900RS Cafe ,Honda CB1000ABS and an FTR1200...

    Aftermarket analog style tachometer.

Member Blackdragon over there is pretty smart. He figured out how to make one work accurately. I have saved the link to my favorites. Other members in that discussion voiced their frustration that a true "Plug and Play" unit does not exist- at least did not exist at the time of that posting...

    Aftermarket analog style tachometer.

By short shifting I mean shifting hopefully JUST before the rev limiter kicks in. I may using the term Short Shifting incorrectly. Im getting better but its a new skill learning the sound and feel of a big HP V twin climbing the rev range as opposed to a 1980s 1100CC 16 valve inline 4 climbing...

    Aftermarket analog style tachometer.

Thank you to those who have suggestions. Im researching this topic because I dont want to buy and wire up a tach just to find out the FTR1200 rejects the wiring in/ addition of a tach. Id prefer not to have to implement a resistor and such.
