Ceramic coat paint protection.

After being frustrated with how fragile the new clear coats are. And dealing with swirl marks constantly. I decided to give a ceramic coat a try. After keeping an eye on Avalon king for the past few years, waiting for long term reviews, I was satisfied and went with them.

Prep was the longest part. I washed the bike with dish soap, then clay bar, then polish using griots garage ultimate polish. (See first pic) then wiped down with isopropyl.

after that it took about half a bottle and hour and a half total time to do two bikes, frame, plastics, and wheels.

It will be nice to get a real life no BS opinion on this product.... While some claim that ceramic coatings are miraculous-- it is difficult to believe that a coating a couple of mils thick can provide any serious protection.... I have tried similar products with lukewarm results....

There are different quality ceramic coats and the good ones are not cheap and the cheap ones are not good. My girlfriend details business jets professionally (including ceramic coating) and told me what she would use (liquid crystal serum). It’s been holding up well for me looking as good as the day we applied it. But it does take good prep work otherwise whatever imperfections and dirt you apply the ceramic over will be near impossible to remove short of sanding afterwards. All that said I agree that the clear coat seems pretty weak. Had tons of swirl marks and micro scratches were my legs rubbed against the tank covers. After ceramic there is still some minor marking where my pants rub but not nearly as bad as it was and the rest looks perfect even after a full season of riding.

Also the coating makes bugs super easy to remove.
