License plate mount

I moved the tail lights to under the seat using the NRC lights. I have the plate mount as well. However, there is something I like about the stripped down arm. Once the bulky lights and plate mount were removed, it didn't look too bad. I used a generic plate mount, drilled out to match the FTR arm. The lower bolts are hidden under the license plate.

I was planning on doing this. Have you noticed you or the bike getting that much dirtier after removing the mud guard ?

If you remove it, you will find sand and road grit stuff getting thrown at your backside. If you ride in the damp, expect a spray line up your back.

The spray line was already on my back with the original mud guard before I removed all the stuff.
Don't you need light on your license plate?

Here is my version (German plates are much bigger unfortunately). blinkers still on the plate but much smaller :)

100% Yes!

Below is the downward view of the rear wheel. Without the OEM licence plate holder. Believe you me if you ride in the wet or get caught in a shower the amount of crap that gets thrown up on the rear of your jacket and helmet is phenomenal. The water will track down the seat and your crotch will get wet and it's not unusual to find you've been sat on the odd small stone and grit as well. Fitting a hugger does nothing either as the rear wheel is still as exposed as it ever was!

It was my intention of only having the rack fitted for longer journeys I have kept my rack fitted and boarded it out to prevent the dirt and crud as I do either get caught out in the rain or have to ride in the rain through necessity. Through trial and error and evolution I ended up boarding the rack as a compromise and now get next to nothing thrown up at me.
