Removing chain guards - qq

Question regarding removing the front chain guard for those that have done this:

After taking the front guard/cover off I see there is a metal bracket that is covering the wires. If I put the bolts back in over the metal bracket it can slip right over the bolts.

Did you just add some washers to fill in the space and keep the bracket in place?

Yes, that is what I did.

yep I added a few washers. You want that metal bracket as it’s a case saver if the chain breaks

Thanks! I ended up using some old crush rings from previous oil changes and I think it looks pretty good.

I was amazed at how much gunk was built up in here, glad I took the cover off. A clean chain is a happy chain.
