So I got back yesterday afternoon and went ahead and got the bracket mounted. I ended up notching it because I want the gauge a bit farther up in my viewing area and I just think it looks a bit better in the 2 o'clock position.
I took it for a test ride hoping that the gauge itself may needed...
Thank you for the input! If you get a chance I'd love to see a picture of where the tach is plugged in currently on your bike. Also a picture of the inside of the inside of the connector going to the tach, like the one I posted above, would be AWESOME! I believe in the last picture you posted up...
Alright, well I'm requesting the knowledge of any in-house electrical gurus.
The tach came in last night and it is exactly what I'm looking for. The fit and finish is fantastic and it matches the OEM analog speedo perfectly. Before purchasing, I knew this was designed for the Scout, but after...
EDIT: Never mind I just saw your previous reply. :ROFLMAO:
Do you have any idea if this is a direct fit? They have another one with an anodized flange that looks pretty slick but I imagine it would be too large for the FTR opening. I'm at work and don't have the bike here to measure.
I have a 2019 base and the cap is the same way as you describe. Always a battle getting it off and on. With 9k miles and adding nearly 100 a day (I bought a 2019 leftover in 2021) I'm getting tired of it. Honestly I'd be fine with an aftermarket non-locking solution and might look into it.
I was originally going to do the classic green, yellow, red LED light strip setup along the top of the speedo, but when I found this one it just fits the look so much better IMO.
I ended up finding one at a dealer in NY and it will be here late next week. Looking forward to getting it installed and I'll post up pictures once complete.
From everything I can find on the wiring diagram of the Scout, it seems as though the connector is designed to work with the 8 pin diagnostic port located near the battery tray, under the seat, on the Scout. This appears to be the same connection as the diagnostic port located on the right side...
Sorry for not replying to this sooner! I've been busier than a cucumber in a women's prison lately. The used Ohlins damper I purchased just doesn't have the throw I am looking for. The bracket ended up fitting exactly as intended and I'm just finishing up the mount for the bar/upper triple. I...
Has anyone with the analog speedo tried to install the Scout tachometer? Not sure on the compatibility of the wiring/connector but this would be exactly what I'm looking for if it would work. If not I'll end up making it work one way or the other. Just looking for some general input.
