Since use mine as a daily driver I just fill it until it stops, then squeeze in a couple more times. If I am on a trip ill spend an extra minute to top it off. If people behind me can’t wait 2.5 minutes for gas they will probably be having a heart attack behind the wheel in the near future...
I am interested in the TOCE exhaust system. I really love the look of the high mount system, and it would help for off road, but I am concerned about heat from the pipe. Does anyone have experience with it? I also like the low mount, probably with the Db killer. They list it at 113 Db’s...
I live in South Dakota, we have long cold winters, yet there are bikes in the road year round. I started riding at 16 in Chicago and have well over 500000 miles on bikes. 1 accident at 16, speeding on corner. I wear helmets when it’s cold or early spring when there still sand on highways.
What...
I am not the best source of safety tips because I only wear a helmet about half the time, but when it comes to riding boots with an FTR I prefer western style boot. I have Roland Sands foot pegs that are very sharp. The western boot heel and the sharp pegs hold my foot in place better than...
I just had new tires put on my 1200s at the Sturgis dealership. My stock tires (the rear) was bald after returning from my last trip. The mechanic notice unusual wear on the rear sprocket. Teeth were chipped and very worn. The chain was fine and in adjustment. It was replaced under warranty...
I finished a 10 day trip from South Dakota to California and back. 3800 miles. Average daily runs of about 450 miles. You can read about bike setup and some details in my posts. Some things not there: I have cruised in many bikes, recently a RoadMaster and Chieftain. I was very impressed how...
It is beautiful there. Another advantage of traveling on motorcycle is parking and stops. It is so easy to get around in crowded areas and make quick stops for scenery or photos on a motorcycle. My son and I went through Yellowstone a couple years ago and it was so much easier to see things on...
Yes, Zion and Moab where the best part of the entire ride. I had been through that area in a car years earlier, but there are so many things you see and experience while riding that you just don’t notice in a car.
I just traveled with an Indian Tank bag, Indian rack with SW-Motech EVO 50 liter Tail Bag. It road great, did not even feel it on the bike. No movement even at speeds above 110 mph. There is extra straps to put jacket on top of bag securely and room left on the end of the rack to strap a tent...
Made it home tonight. 3700 miles. Two days of city riding in LA but outside that averaged 450+ miles per day over 8 days of hard riding.
The only real changes that I will be making to the bike is an improved ECU flash, gel/Sheep skin seat pad for hot long days, integrate maps into display...
When I get back from my trip I am going to try to fabricate some front pegs that will bolt to frame were the sliders do but extended down and forward maybe 10”. Possibly with a quick release lever. It would put rowed pegs about even with the battery box.
