“Limited edition” number 1877 chilling out on a showroom floor in New Zealand… about 15 months after the same dealership told me the FTR R Carbon was on a limited run, and NZ would probably only get like 4 of them, so if I wanted one I’d better jump on it nooooow.
I don’t regret buying mine...
I’m glad I got my FTR R Carbon last year. The new one looks super bland in comparison.
And apparently the Akrapovic exhaust doesn’t come standard anymore, which means if the bike’s price has stayed the same year-over-year, they’ve essentially snuck in a big price bump just by downgrading the...
Here’s why I bought mine.
After 6 years riding a 2014 BMW S1000R, I was starting to wonder if there would ever be any other bike that could compete with the way that bike made me feel when I rode it. Up until that point, the answer was a definite no. It was beginning to look like the only thing...
That's how it was for the lower bolt on mine, but the upper bolt had about 1/4 of the bolt welded in place, which caused the allen key to strip the bolt immediately. This, in turn, meant I had to spend four days drilling and swearing.
My girlfriend has a set of Puig levers on her Scout, and she loves them. They're a different design from what you've posted, but Puig is good quality and will definitely work on the FTR.
Cheers. I’ll see if the business gets back to me with an answer to the enquiry I sent. If they don’t, or they just shrug and say “Nein”, I might take you up on that.
That’s where I went. They don’t have NZ in their list of countries you can select for shipping. You can select it for the *billing* address, but not for shipping, and for some reason they don’t let you use the billing address as your shipping address.
Hopefully it’s just an oversight or...
I was ready to pull the trigger and order a set of Raximo levers, but they don’t ship to New Zealand. They’ll ship to North Korea according to their country picker, but not NZ.
I’ve sent them an enquiry to see if we can work something out. Hopefully so, because the levers look wicked.
I read about the FOBO Bike 2 tyre pressure sensors, and they sounded like a good idea. They mount to the valve stem and communicate tyre pressure readings to an app on your phone via Bluetooth, even sending you alerts if your pressure falls below a level you define.
I ordered a set, then waited...
Coincidentally, I adjusted the front forks on mine yesterday. I have the Öhlins suspension, so all it took was a 2.5mm Allen key. Didn’t need to move the bars to get at the adjuster, although at first I thought I would need to.
I got tired of waiting for the Akrapovic grommets to get here (NZ) from the States, so I picked up some basic rubber blanking grommets from Mitre 10 for a couple bucks.
I lost one of the OEM grommets somehow, and I had to drill out the retaining bolt on the upper baffle, which inadvertently...
