FTR rear tyre

Just enquiring if anyone has pushed the rear tyre from the 150/80 R18
I was trying to see what the largest tyre anyone has put on to the factory swing arm.

I was looking at a tyre comparison site and the 200/50 R18 was close to the same diameter of the 150/80 R18 but obviously wide.
I just wanted to see what people have been putting on their bikes and how far they have pushed it

180 or 200 .... I just know the 150/80 is an uncommon tyre

The width of the rim is your limit (max 160), the swingarm has enough room for a 200…

I run a 190 with plenty or room to spare.

200/50 R18 fits exactly to the millimeter, I even had to dismantle the cable duct on the right side and secure it with a cable tie. otherwise the tire would touch the swing arm.

The rim is cut open at the rim bed and spread with extra material. Everything remains as it is original. The chain and brake discs remain the same, so no technical changes are necessary.

That process used to be called 'banding' and was very popular with cars and relatively easy to do with steel rims but not many people carry it out nowadays due to alloy wheel popularity and off the shelf size availability (unless your buying 17" wheels of course).
