Helmet!

This one? The dealer gave it to me when i bought my bike...no way i would pay $280 or whatever they were asking for it. It's a bell moto 3 knockoff. It's fine if you want to wear googles or glasses, but i prefer a faceshield. I grew out of eating bugs in my 20s

Definitely a cool looking helmet, seems to be well made too. For my riding is just not a good choice, as i seldom ride less than 100 miles at a time. For people who mostly ride in urban areas or take shorter rides it might be better.

Looks good on my cool helmet shelf in the shop though!

This exact same helmet was previously sold in Germany by Louis.de labeled with the brand AJS (AJS Vintage II Retro). So apart from DOT it's also ECE22.05 approved. They run a little big. I normally wear a size S, but my Indian helmet is size XS.

It's actually pretty light in weight, made of fiberglass, and is made in two outer shell sizes. So if you wear a small helmet you're not wearing an oversized styrofoam sail on your head. I have worn mine only once -at home-, but only because I just got a two new helmets before I got this one. I still have it new in a box somewhere.

Wear it with goggles, not with sunglasses. And if you ride a lot of freeway, this may not be the helmet for you unless you remove the peak.

I also wear the full face Outpost helmet from Indian. Overall I am satisfied with the fit, finish, protection, and look of the Outpost. However I have one caution. Be very careful with the face shield as there are no replacements available from Indian. I had the parts manager at my dealership do some investigation and there are no tinted visors or replacements available. I have looked all over the internet using the code numbers stamped on the visor for a source for another visor. My dealer told me as far as the helmet itself, it was manufactured in China for Bell and rebranded to Indian. I’m not sure that this is accurate because none of the available Bell helmets look like this helmet. None of the Bell visors look like they will fit the Outpost. Had I known it would be difficult to get a tinted or replacement visor I probably would not have purchased this helmet. My visor is still OK. I am going to great lengths to protect it from scratches and damage.

I think this fits a full face helmet sold in 2016. Not sure if it will fit the Outpost helmet. It may also be sold out.

I’ve had a lot of helmets over the years some cheap, some top shelf. NOTHING flows air like this new race star. And the transition shield is amazing.

I did some research on the Outpost helmet sold by Indian. It is manufactured by a Company in China - Zhejiang Vista Sports Goods Co., LTD. The model is: Vista FP07 Full Face. According to the attached Polaris document it is fitted with: visor YJV-07 (E9-05.1914). I plan to write to Polaris and e-mail Vista to see if a replacement visor is available.

As I suspected there is no replacement visor for the Outpost helmet. This is the response I received from Polaris.

Contact Polaris

Hi Mark,

Thank you for contacting Polaris Inc. I checked the part and I do apologize but we don't have service parts for this helmet. If you are looking for any parts you will need to purchase the helmet again. I do apologize for any inconvenience for this situation. We try and provide as many parts as possible but some only come in kits. If you have any other questions let me know.

Thank you,

That sucks. Visors are consumables imho...

(and a good reason NOT to buy an Indian helmet again)

bummer.
But yes visors have always been something you can just swap out on my other helmets.

No worries. My helmet and visor are fine!
My point with the documentation in this thread is: Be careful....If your Outpost helmet falls off the seat of your motorcycle and the visor breaks or if you scratch it up - there is no replacement available. Take good care of it!

I have a older Bell helmet in the garage I was wearing during a crash in 2019. It was not damaged in the crash but the visor cracked. I can not find a replacement visor for that helmet. It is a retired model and Bell no longer has replacements.

The next time I purchase a new helmet I will choose a brand that offers replacement visors and will buy both at the same time.
