Cold Stalls, Throttle Response Glitches, ECU mapping problems/differences

I am just guessing, so this is not based on any inside information I had while working for Indian. Polaris has had issues with “thermal Incidents”. Vehicles catching on fire. Most if not all were operator issues, but Polaris made the commitment to reduce risk even at the cost of performance. It was a noble effort to idiot proof. These FTR issues could be the result of some of those directives. If the exhaust was too hot while fueling and a spill caught on fire it would be catastrophic. Again this is just a guess. But they obviously want the vehicle to run as well as possible.

Well considering how the FTR can be quite hot during city riding, I’m it sure that’s quite the reason for the pre-22 models’ running issues...
Weren’t those thermal issues relating to their off road products though? RZR I believe.

Yes, it was off-road but internally there are few very few firewalls between divisions. We did work for Motorcycles, off-road, and snow. Any safety issues were addressed by all.
