Rob carpenter (robonewheelrevolution) teamed up with atomicind to make steel rear sprockets. Goes from 50 to 58 teeth. I went with a 51 (stock is 49)

the 51 works with the stock chain and adjusters almost full forward.

Man that's going to be wild! First will now be a heavy implement towing gear ;)

So where were the adjusters roughly before you changed? I'm considering going the other way -2. I hope like you to leave the chain as is.

They were about an inch out before. I plan on buying a new gold chain in the spring. I’ll see how I like the slightly shorter wheelbase before ordering a few extra links. It worked well with my last bike.

Yes. All day long, if you change the rear tire. Stock tire likes to spin out with 2nd gear clutch ups.

I was more interested in changing where the rpms were in 2/3rd gears for tighter mountain roads and around town

on a ride today at 80mph I’m tiring 5k rpm in 6th.

Can't keep the front wheel on the ground with full throttle in first gear as it is, can't understand lowering the gearing further.

But hey, if it works for you, great!

It puts the power in a more useable location in 2nd/3rd for tight mountain road riding. 2t isn’t that large of a change.

Understood. I'm just always looking for another gear at highway and up speeds. I possess a certain degree of mechanical sympathy, and would loathe tightening up gearing for that reason.

If I was a development engineer at Indian, I would have raised first gear from it's overly low ratio (I think it is ridiculously low; jeez, if it wasn't just a touch tough on the clutch, I would start in second gear) kept sixth where it is (it is pretty much spot-on, performance-wise) and tighten up all the ratios. In other words, make it a close(r) ratio gearbox. That would've tightened somewhat the gap I think you were experiencing in 2nd/3rd with the OEM gearing.

I’m the opposite. I do not enjoy lugging high Reving engines. Although It’s only @5k @80 mph on the highway. But I do very minimal highway riding.

A v-twin with a 9000 rpm redline and 8100 rpm power peak is hardly a high revving engine and running such an engine at 2500 rpm where it makes 78% of it's peak torque is not lugging.

then you have a different riding style than me. It’s ok. That’s what makes us all different. You would perhaps enjoy the 43t sprocket you can buy from Indian.

Sorry it’s a bit off topic but has anyone tried a Quickshifter on their bikes yet? This will be the only bike I’ve had in the last 10yrs without one and I can’t understand why Indian didn’t fit one as standard to such a high spec bike. I’ve seen Healtech do one and it’s reasonably priced, I’ve used their stuff on different bikes and the quality is very good.
many thoughts.....

I get my bike in March and will be putting one on it then, I’ll post pics when installing for people if no one has already by that point

It’s only upshift with the Healtech though. No blipping.

I think we’ll get an up and down shifter on the 150hp FTR 1200 SP Superleggera

It also does downshifts. It just doesn’t blip the throttle. Higher gear downshifts aren’t bad using it. But 1-3rd gear downshifts are clunky
