Where did you ride your FTR today?

It's either been raining, or COLD in the morning (as in the mid 40s - way too nasty at highway speeds) for the entire week, so no motorcycle commuting during the entire week. This morning though, I had a narrow window for dry riding (radar showed rain off to the west), so I took a chance, and took ye olde FTR1200 out for a quickie 35 mile spin on some back roads, to help keep the battery charged (I have no place to plug in a battery tender, where I park my motorcycle). Mission accomplished! I got in a fun ride, and charged up the battery. 10 or 15 minutes after I got home, it started raining again, and it's stll raining 2 plus hours later. :D

Hurl out with a mate to West Bay Dorset. Got there so early the bike parking area was bereft of everything but our two machines and the kiosks were shut. By the time we headed off the area was packed and there were customers queuing to get served.

Rode to the Ohio State Reformatory today. The Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite movies so we went for a tour. Pretty interesting place.

82 degrees here and unfortunately I didn‘t get to ride.
I‘m done and out for the rest of the riding season after having rotator cuff surgery. 😩

Sorry to here MilwDave. I know how you feel. I took a hard crash October 2, 2019. Was in the hospital 22 days and was not able to ride again until April 2020. Fortunately it was winter in Pittsburgh while I was healing up. Sounds like you are in the same boat. Hopefully you will be healthy and ready to go by spring!

Love what you’ve done to the bike! Going full flat tracker with the high exhaust, tracker bars, seat and cowl.(y)
IMO those are the best sounding pipes for the FTR.
Thanks - I'm pretty stoked with it too! For me, it's what the bike was meant to be.

What bars are those?

They're the ProTaper Evo Dirt Track - they're not designed to be street bars, but I made them work. The trickiest part of mounting was aligning and drilling the holes for the pins on the switch clusters - took a lot of measuring, remeasuring, a leap of faith, and some luck, but it worked out perfectly. The cables and wires are a bit tight at full lock, but not overly so. I did have to re-route some stuff to make it work, but nothing needed to be extended. Totally changed the bike for me and made it feel like a proper (poser:giggle:) tracker, not just your everyday naked sportsbike. I ditched the barend weights too and don't notice any additional vibration.

Yesterday morning was probably one of the last 'warm', weekend mornings I've got left this year for a ride. Went up 36 to Estes Park, then down the Peak-to-peak to Nederland for breakfast, then down Left Hand Canyon to home.

PS-my left toe made contact with the ground in LHC for the first time. Scared the poo out of me. But I also didn't know I had the bike leaned over that far.
